Suriname has a surface of 164.000 km2, of which the coast is mainly inhabited. The biggest part of Suriname consists of tropical rainforest which is a part of the Amazone with its unique flora and fauna.
The population of Suriname holds 480.000 people en is a mix of different races where ethnic backgrounds, cultures and religions have been kept.
The main language of Suriname is Dutch, this because of the fact that Suriname was a colony of the Netherlands. Aside from Dutch, the languages Sranan Tongo (also known as Taki Taki) and english are also spoken.

The monetary unit of Suriname is the Surinamese Dollar (SRD). The Euro (€) and the US Dollar (US$) are also accepted in stores, car rentals, hotels and restaurants. In some cases the Mastercard and the VISA are also accepted.
